My Orchard Plan at the New Homestead | Planting 1st Fruit Trees!
I get super excited about everything but this one really tops it off. Brainstorming about my orchard and what fruit trees to plant has been quite difficult. Even though I have a lot more space, I still have a lot of obstacles to overcome. Location is KEY! My challenges are; deer, more shade than planned, removing old structures, septic location, and existing surface runoff.
Fig trees seemed to be the best fruit trees to start with because they can handle a little shade. Also, they produce fruit sooner than most other fruit trees. We LOVE fig trees so we are excited to add a few.

I am married and have 3 beautiful daughters. 2019 was my first year gardening and it was in a suburban area with a small backyard.
