in this video we attempt to find 4-4-0 rock island steam train supposably sunk in the. 1900s south of Kinsley Kansas. I find out real quick that during our search we where in the wrong area. I did not know that there where two rail roads that came in to Kinsley. The area we where searching in the video is actually a Old ATSF rail road. Unkown to us the sunk train we where looking for is south Kinsley on a abandoned rail line called the Wichita northwestern, a short lived railroad during the grain booms in Kansas. As we search for this train we find old glass bottles, farm dumps, all sorts of old treasures. We will also hike and find beaver dams and tons of deer sign. At the end of the day we headed into town and talked to a local city worker where he told us where he thinks the old train is. Unfortunately it was the end of the day and we did have enough time to search the second location. So I plan on making another trip to find this 120 year old train and put this mystery to rest.
It was a bummer we didn't find the train but it was worth the trip. If you have any info on sunk trains in Kansas let me know.
