In this module, I discuss how I was born into an evangelical Christian home, raised in a world where every person in my life—family, friends, teachers—shared the same beliefs. My childhood was shaped by the weight of religious doctrine, the looming fear of God's judgment, and the ever-present threat of hell. As a sensitive and imaginative child, these teachings left deep imprints on my psyche, instilling guilt, fear, and an overwhelming sense of obligation.

I share my journey of growing up in an insular Christian environment, grappling with the contradictions between faith and reality, and the slow unraveling of my beliefs. From witnessing the stark contrast between my parents’ public devotion and private struggles to questioning the infallibility of scripture, I take you through the pivotal moments that led me to break free from the constraints of my religious upbringing.
