Do races matter in AoC? The short answer is no; races like the Aela Humans or Dünzenkell Dwarves are mainly visual choices. But you should be aware of the Backgrounds system, which holds the true character benefits: passive abilities, titles, and narrative choices.
Don't agonize over the race decision. This video clarifies how the nine playable races are purely cosmetic and how they have the exact same starting stats (I'll show you the proof!).
