Take a relaxing day on Clare Island. Get the ferry from Roonagh Pier and after about ten minutes you will arrive at the pier of Clare Island. When arriving at the pier to the left you will see a beautiful castle renowned as being the base of Grainne Mhaol (Grace O'Malley, Granuaile) known as the Queen of Connacht, see link below. After a quick visit at the castle, why not take a stroll over to The Anchor bar for a tea, coffee, snack or even a pint of Guinness before you explore the island. Lots of places to visit, you will enjoy the stroll around the island and the people of the island are great. Watch out for a farmer bringing in the sheep with his sheep dogs while you are enjoying your beautiful walk amongst the islands great contours. It's great to see sheep dogs at work, especially when you are watch, it's just amazing.
