Our 2012 Ford Escape started to have an odd hesitation and knocking when accelerating. It was sporadic and our assumption at first was bad gas. However, it persisted for an extended period of time. We decided to change out the Ignition Coils with some generic replacements. The Coils have been changed out for a few months now an the hesitation and knocking hasn't returned.
This Video shows just how easy it is to replace your own ignition coils.
According to Google, “Altogether, a car's average cost to replace four ignition coils is $300. This price includes the cost of the coils as well as labor.” Our coil pack cost $31.94 delivered to the house and the installation took 2 minutes. Our recommendation is to save yourself $268.06 and do it yourself!
