In early November I got to take a ride on a “Speeder” at the Stewartstown Railroad in PA. Speeders are early Maintenance of Way (MOW) motorcars used by track and signal crews. It was a sweet 14 mile roundtrip through woods and fields from Stewartstown PA to New Freedom PA. Most of this trackage cannot handle a heavier locomotive, so it is rarely used mileage. New Freedom is the home of the Northern Central Railroad. In their yard was #6076, an ex-PRR EMD GP9 locomotive getting ready to pull a passenger excursion along with an old “Ma & Pa” SW9 locomotive #84 originally built for the Pittsburg & Lake Erie Railroad. At the end they did a run-by of the speeders. Thanks for watching. Be sure to check out my other videos and like and subscribe!
