This cultural event, sponsored by the Sierra Leone Tourist Board and the Ministry of Tourism & Cultural Affairs, took place at Siaka StevensStadium in April, 2016, in conjunction with the 55th Anniversary of Sierra Leone’s Independence. The program featured hundreds of Sierra Leoneans including secret society masqueraders (debuls), acrobats, dancers, stilt-walkers, drummers, and snake charmers. The event was videotaped by Former Peace Corps Volunteer Gary Schulze.
