- In our practice, a neck lift involves placement of three access incisions. They're all about an inch long. One here, and one behind each ear. And a neck lift involves just removing fatty deposits in the neck, above and below the platysma muscle and a platysmaplasty. And a platysmaplasty just involves placement of a few sutures right here at the jaw line, that's it. The neck lift is performed on patients less than 50 years of age who have excellent skin tone. If patients have loose and inelastic skin in the neck, then a lower face and neck lift is required, which involves removal of that extra skin in front and behind the ears to rejuvenate the neck.
