Bethany was mentioned several times in the synoptic gospels because
Lazarus and his sisters Martha and Mary were Jesus' friends and he loved them and loved to lodge at their place along the way from and
to Jerusalem or even at the end of the day when he was in Jerusalem.
Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead in this place and that was a main event before his triumphal entry to Jerusalem one week leading to his passion.
