Once accessible only via a grueling 15-mile trek from Zion Canyon, this incredible viewpoint can now be reached through the more manageable East Mesa Trail. Along the way, I’ll share the fascinating story of David Flanagan’s historic cableworks, built in 1901 to transport lumber to the canyon floor, and reflect on the balance between modern efficiency and the beauty of embracing life’s challenges.

From the top of Cable Mountain, you’ll gaze down at the Virgin River winding through Zion Canyon, the iconic Angels Landing, and roads so tiny they look like ant trails. Join me on this reflective journey through one of Zion’s most awe-inspiring and historic trails.
