Alina & The Darkling || Favorite Crime [Modern/Criminal AU]

And here we go again...

But with something a little bit different this time! Modern AU ! :D

It's been YEARS since I didn't edited a Modern AU for one of my ships, literally but I'm glad I found the inspiration to do it again for Darklina, have to say that they have INCREDIBLE modern AU edits who are very, very inspiring. And just, the modern footage of Ben Barnes is... more than nice lol.

I want thank you two persons who helped me to found the footage of Jessie Mei Li, who is so PAINFUL to found. Girls, without you, this edit wouldn't never existed and I had so much FUN when I made it so thank you very very very much ‪@theladyofisell‬ and ‪@HeartPhantom‬ !

At first, I didn't wanted edit such a popular song on them, especially since I already edited it not a long time ago for another ship. But I just opened the song randomly and try some manips when I was bored... and I ended to finish it lol. And I'm actually very happy with the result, so I'm glad I did! It's so a criminal AU.

I want to clarify that it's Alina and Aleksander, yes, without really being them either, the edit does not really relate to the story of Shadow and Bone or to their characters, it could just as well be OCs with Ben Barnes and Jessie Mei Li as actors if you want to imagine it that way, the story behind the video is completely separate from the Grishaverse.

Story which is a bit messy and doesn't have any chronology in the edit. I would say that Aleksander is in this video a gangster, who will meet Alina maybe in a bar one evening, and will sympathize with her, being attracted with her, and one day offer her a job in his company, which she will naively accept, before realizing that the kind of work he expects from her is not at all what she expected. I think at first the murders and horrors he asks of her are awful for her and that she will seek to run away from him, but eventually she will end to like that life, being addicted to it and comes back to him, because she cannot help herself, it's stronger than her, she's addicted to HIM. Their relationship is undoubtedly in this AU even more toxic than in the show, where sex, drugs and violence mingle. Things will eventually get very ugly, and Alina will want to break away from him for good, and Aleksander will try to kill her in a fit of anger to keep her from leaving, which he will immediately regret afterwards, but there's no forgiveness possible this time.

Yeah, I'm not good to imagine happy stories.
