Shallow, fast-moving fluid sometimes suddenly jumps up to be deeper and slower-moving. We can predict the new height and velocity via conservation of mass and momentum for this system.
Organize problem info
Define control volume
Apply conservation of mass
Settle LHS, "V dot n" terms, and integrals
Get one equation for V2 and h2
Apply conservation of momentum
Settle LHS, Vx terms, "V dot n" terms, and integrals
Determine x external forces, integrateto get pressure force
Get a 2nd equation for V2 and h2
Do a bunch af algebra to get h2 in terms of knowns
Do some checks
