Let's Play Final Fantasy (NES) Ep. 13: YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO SHOW UP YET!!!!

Welcome to Episode 13 of Let's Play Final Fantasy for NES! Sorry it's been so long... Life happened and I also got busy with several other projects. But it's nice to finally have time to squeeze this episode out! I think I can get another one or two this week/weekend, too. We'll see.

In this episode, we take our newly forged Excalibur (Xcalber), and trek up the Floating Castle to confront the Fiend of Wind, picking up additional healing items and a pair of magical robes that cast level 2 spells ICE2 (Black shirt/robe) and INV2 (White shirt/robe). I think we also get a ProRing or ProCape?

But it's all for naught. The dreaded Warmech, who only has a 4.7% chance of being the random battle encounter on the final bridge before meeting the Fiend of Wind, decided to attack me! I did not know I could run; I thought it was an inescapable battle. We got party-wiped. Fast-casts from Ravel on my heavy hitters wasn't enough to get through Warmech's 1000 HP in time.

On a real NES with no save states or rewind... We have to do this all again!!

So we do, except we skip a couple items out of impatience. We may come back for them later when Warmech hunting (yes, we will come back for revenge. Now it's personal).

But Warmech spawns AGAIN! I look up online if you can run from Warmech, and nothing said I couldn't, so I tried, and SUCCESS!! Thank goodness! We confront the Fiend of Wind, she is Tiamat, the battle with her feels like a breeze at this point, yay all four orbs are lit up!

But the world is not saved yet... There is still darkness, evil, and chaos, and monsters are still everywhere. Where to next? Maybe the circle of sages in Crescent Lake can help us.
