On 22 July 2025, the Minister of Public Works (MINTP) carried out a comprehensive inspection of the Bekoko – Nkam Bridge – Bandjoun road (219 km). At the end of his visit, he praised the significant improvement of the infrastructure’s level of service and encouraged the company in charge of works. He instructed the continuation of operations while waiting for the final rehabilitation of the road, and also urged the company to remain committed until full completion. The project is 99.39% complete, with 79.21% of time frame used.
On the Bekoko- Nkam Bridge section, achievements include clearing 119.3 km of vegetation, constructing hydraulic structures and ditches, laying bituminous concrete over 10.252 km and repairing 3,714 m² of potholes. As for the Nkam Bridge -Bandjoun section, works have advanced with site installation, the construction of box culverts, the laying of bituminous concrete over 5.614 km and the repair of 2,471 m² of potholes. However, the Minister of Public Works issued crucial recommendations, insisting on the need to keep up till the end, to treat the remaining potholes for good and to make dangerous spots safe, though the initial budget has been exhausted. There are still challenges though, including payment delays and critical areas requiring additional intervention. As such, teams will soon focus on systematically filling potholes and performing routine maintenance. This project, with a total cost of 10.94 billion CFA francs, once completed, will significantly contribute to improving traffic flow, enhancing road safety and strengthening interregional trade between the Littoral and West regions.
