Without Dave Robert’s clutch steal in the bottom of the ninth in Game 4 off of Mariano Rivera. Without Bill Mueller’s RBI single. Without David Ortíz’s walk off homer in the 12th. Without the late game heroics in Game 5. Without Ortíz’s huge walk off single in the 14th sending Damon dashing to the plate and to New York. Without Curt Schilling pitching 7 dominate innings in Game 6 with a torn right-ankle tendon. Without Johnny Damon blasting two homers and six RBI — a grand slam in the second and a two run homer in the fourth — than none of that becomes a reality, especially, the Red Sox breaking the Curse of the Bambino by winning the 100th World Series over the St. Louis Cardinals.
