Swimming Skills For 8 Month Old

Mila at 8 months had one swimming lessons per week as well as many play opportunities in the swimming pool. This regular exposure to the water is very important when teaching baby's and children to swim. Weekly swimming lessons alongside regular water play will allow them to become comfortable and confident in the swimming pool. When teaching swimming to any age I usually follow a building block approach. I slowly build their swimming skills like water familiarisation, breath control, submersion, floating and propulsion. Progressing children according to individual readiness is essential and you should never rush any child in their learn to swim lesson. Be sure to slowly encourage them with gentle support and always ready their body language and cues to ensure they are happy and confident while they learn to swim with you. Adult supervision is vital not just during the swimming lesson but also free water play. Even shallow water poses drowning dangers for children who cannot swim.
