i tape two tiny microphones to my coat and walk around xi’an, capital of shaanxi province and former starting point of the silk road. there's a guy with a pompadour singing in front of a uniqlo, and then the rest of this recording is an old street market. there's flashing neon lights going off everywhere and people eating fried squid on a stick and drinking warm salted plum drinks and smoking cigarettes with gold dragons on the boxes.
