Did you know that FRFR carries and uses a Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC) on nearly every fire call? We use these high tech devices to enhance our ability to see when smoke or darkness inhibits our sight. Crews use them to search for trapped victims, locate hot spots in walls or ceilings, to determine how quickly brush fires are traveling, and to improve the safety for our crews entering hazardous environments. The TIC uses infrared technology to show the user a realtime picture of the scene using heat and they can see through the darkness, smoke, and fog. National Thermal Engineer Day is celebrated on July 24 to appreciate the contribution of thermal engineers in everyday life.
