I spent a wonderful morning at Des Ong's Buzzard hide. We have buzzards where I live in Suffolk but we normally only hear them calling and flying high in the sky. If we are lucky we might get one fly low over us but they are not easy to see close up. They have very good sight and will spot your presence very quickly and rarely allow you to get close. They only way to see them close up is from a hide and wow when you do they are magnificent powerful birds. I had a visit from a pair of Buzzards the first was the slightly smaller male and then the slightly larger female came in almost shoving off the male The male came back later to finish off and at one point it must I heard the calls of another bird as it started mantling the prey with its wing covering the prey and calling out with its easily recognised alarm call. An amazing experience.
