Motorcycle Tour of East Anglia - Ep 1

Episode 1 of our East Anglia Tour see us heading for Suffolk, unfortunately, getting from West to East doesn't offer up many great roads so we took the fast option to get us there! On the way we called in on Sutton Hoo which is the most famous Anglo-Saxon burial ground ever discovered. A quick fix of history for us and then we made our way to our first overnight stay in the lovely seaside town of Aldeburgh. The town is a quiet and quaint and on this occasion freezing cold! It was the birthplace of composer Benjamin Britten and has a history of shipbuilding back in the 16th Century. We're sure that in glorious sunshine it would be delightful! Day 2 saw us head North West to the little town of Framlingham and its famous castle - an externally very imposing place and the inspiration for Ed Sheeran's song "Castle on the Hill" - Sheeran is a local boy and lives close by (sadly, he didn't make an appearance). Then back to the coast and another quaint and quintessentially English seaside town of Southwold and its historic pier. We caught it at the wrong time, covered in scaffolding and looking the worse for wear. Nevertheless, we ventured inside to experience a throwback to my childhood in places like Fleetwood and Morecambe - garish slot machines and tacky amusement arcades! We also, took in another of Southwold's claim to fame - the multi coloured, expensive beach huts that sell for £150,000 - not today folks! Cold, grey and blustery weather forced us back on the bikes and heading North for our overnight stay at The Black Swan Inn in the little village of Horsham St. Faith near Norwich.
