The warm months of the year can get really busy in the landscape and time can get away from you. If you didn’t get areas of your lawn patched or overseeded earlier in the season, can you seed just before winter hits?
ABSOLUTELY! This is called dormant lawn seeding and it works quite well in areas where there will be moisture over the winter, both snow and rain. The seed stays dormant in the cold months, and is pressed and watered into the lawn. This creates optimum conditions come spring time!
Another bonus is that seed is less likely to be consumed by visiting birds, and the seed is protected by surrounding organic material you use as a carrier.
Watch as DirtFarmer Jay walks you through the method he uses to get great results for lawn patching - even if time got away from him and he finds winter staring him in the face!
