Netflix Film Review: The School for Good and Evil

Here's my super quick review for "The School for Good and Evil", on Netflix.

I liked it! My daughter liked it, too! Overall, I thought it was a great movie. Not because it did anything particularly original, but more so because it was well-acted and just a downright enjoyable movie.

Another important factor is that my 12-year-old daughter really enjoyed it, too. She doesn't easily sit down for a whole movie. When she finds a movie boring, which is quite often the case, she makes it visually clear, opting to do pretty much anything else, within 15 to 20 minutes of the film.

She watched the entire thing from start to finish, eyes glued to the screen. That's high praise, coming from her. I found the acting REALLY well done, especially by the two lead actresses, Sophia Anne Caruso and Sofia Wyllie.

The movie has a rating of 5.8, on IMDB.com, though I guess this doesn't surprise me. I'm not sure "why" people are watching movies if they come away from so many enjoyable movies with such a negative opinion of them. I'm just not sure what they expect of the films that I thought were good but that received so much negative sentiment from other viewers and critics.

Meh, it is what it is. I liked it and you might, too! Don't go into it expecting a masterpiece, enjoy it for what it is, a Halloween release schedule movie that aims to entertain, in particular, to entertain young teens and fun-loving adults.
