Keeping Censorship Out of Counseling | Kaley Chiles' Story

Kaley Chiles is a licensed professional counselor in Colorado who helps clients discuss a wide range of topics. Kaley sees her work as an outpouring of her Christian faith, and many clients come to her because they share her religious beliefs and want to live in accordance with their faith-based worldview.

But a Colorado law passed in 2019 says that kids cannot work with counselors like Kaley if they want to resolve gender dysphoria by regaining comfort with their bodies; they can only work with a counselor to pursue a "gender transition."

This is a blatant, unconstitutional violation of free speech. The government has no business controlling deeply personal, private, voluntary counseling conversations by outlawing counseling toward goals it dislikes.

Clients must be free to set their own goals and to have candid conversations with their counselor, working toward those goals.

That's why we're representing Kaley at the Supreme Court in October 2025.
