Rodney Cook and his wife Kalin live with their two daughters, six grandchildren, a niece and a son-in-law on 40 acres of land in Colorado's San Luis Valley. The family gets their electricity from generators that they run just eight hours a day. They haul water in from a nearby artesian well. If they want a hot bath they have to boil their water on a gas stove. The Cooks have lived off the grid for 10 years and finds it difficult to imagine living anywhere else.
