Victoria de los Angeles.BLOW THE WIND SOUTHERLY.LIVE IN FESTIVAL HALL.LONDON.1964.GERALD MOORE.

Victoria de los Angeles the world famous operatic and lieder lyric soprano from Barcelona sings Blow the Wind Southerly in a Recital with Gerald Moore accompanying at the piano in the Royal Festival Hall, London 28th April 1964.

For many many years this Northumbrian folksong was,and still is closely identified with the glorious and much loved English contralto Kathleen Ferrier----a good friend and colleague of Gerald Moore.She sang it many times, and famously recorded it unaccompanied.

Here Gerald Moore has arranged it to piano accompaniment. I'm guessing perhaps specifically for Victoria de los Angeles,and the Royal Festival Hall audience seem to like it. :)

It is worth noting that whenever Gerald Moore, since his retirement in 1967 attended in the audience one of Victoria de los Angele's recitals Blow the Wind Southerly was always included as a tribute to him.

Victoria de los Angeles born and died in Barcelona,1923-2005, was married and had two children:-

Juan Enrique born 1963.Died 1997.
Alejandro born 1965.Died 2019.
