Alexandre Herer Bombay Experience (feat. B.C. Manjunath & Manmeet Kaur) - ALBUM TEASER

A first trip to India made Alexandre Herer realise the strong presence of rap and beatbox in this country. It soon led him to set up various collaborations and organize several concerts in India with young rappers and beatboxers from a school in Dharavi, Bombay, and with Manmeet Kaur to mix this rap scene with his own music.

At the same time, Alexandre meets B.C. Manjunath at a master-class in France. B.C. has long been well known to some of Alexandre's mentors and influences, such as Benoit Delbecq, Jozef Dumoulin, Guillaume Orti and Stéphane Payen, which directly links konnakol and Carnatic music to certain aspects of Alexandre's compositions.

The mathematical aspect of konnakol, the games of numbers, speed and meaning inspired Alexandre Herer to compose an entire repertoire enabling B.C. Manjunath to find familiar musical elements, and Manmeet Kaur, a female poet and rapper from Chandigarh met in Bombay, to recite her texts, in English or Hindi, and dialogue with Alexandre’s music.
