Nestled in Porto Alegre, Brazil, Casa POA by Bernardes Arquitetura reimagines contemporary residential design across three terraced levels, blending raw concrete with warm wood and lush greenery. Designed to optimize sunlight exposure and seasonal comfort, the residence adapts to the colder winters of southern Brazil's largest metropolitan region, using strategic orientation to capture warmth while shielding from chill. A sculptural wooden staircase weaves through exposed concrete shear walls, connecting the ground-level office, gym, and garage to the lively social spaces above.

The heart of the home unfolds on the intermediate floor: living room, kitchen, garden, and pool blend seamlessly through full-height sliding glass doors, erasing indoor-outdoor boundaries. Double-height voids invite filtered light, while north-facing wooden brise-soleils, mirroring the roof's rhythm—temper sunlight, enhance privacy, and frame stunning landscape views. The top-level master suite provides a serene overlook, completing this fluid, light-filled layout.
