Easy Printmaking for Kids | Simple Collograph Prints

What you need:
Craft foam sheets (or cardboard)
Scissors
Glue 
Water-based printing ink
Paper
Mini trim roller
Paper Plate or acrylic frame (for rolling out the ink)
(optional) rubber brayer

Instructions:
1. Protect your work surface with a plastic tablecloth, newspaper, or art mat. 
2. Cut the foam sheet into any shape (heart, square, circle, car, house, etc) for the base
3. Cut other foam pieces into smaller shapes (abstract, circles, squares, hearts, etc.) and glue them to the base to create your printing plate. Let dry overnight.
4. Squeeze printing ink onto a paper plate or acrylic frame. Cover your trim roller with an even layer of ink.
5. Roll the ink-covered roller over your collagraph printing plate to cover the raised pieces with ink.
6. Place your printing plate face down on a sheet of art paper and press all over with your hands or a rubber brayer. Alternately, place your printing plate face up on a sheet of scrap paper and then lay your art paper on top of the inked surface before pressing. Lift to reveal your print!
7. Repeat this process as many times as you like, you can use the same color of ink or a different one, or make another design and print!
