Automated Mesh Operation Overview
We are using the Automated Mesh operation.
This meshing approach consists of three main algorithm groups:
1. Surface Mesher
2. Volume Mesher
3. Boundary Layer Mesher
All meshing algorithms are defined within this single automated operation.

Surface Mesher
The first algorithm is the Surface Mesher.
This option is especially useful when:
You import a part into STAR-CCM+ that was already meshed in another software
For example, when importing a surface mesh from ANSYS Fluent
By selecting the Surface Mesher, you allow STAR-CCM+ to:
Re-mesh the imported surface
Rebuild the mesh based on your own parameters
This gives you full control over mesh quality and consistency.

Volume Mesher Options
For the volume mesh, we have two main choices:
Polyhedral Mesher
Trimmed Mesher
Tetrahedral Mesher
Each has different characteristics in terms of:
Cell quality

For the boundary layer, STAR-CCM+ provides two options:
Prism Layer Mesher

If you look at the image, you will notice that the mesh displayed previously corresponds to prism layers.
After switching to Advanced Layer Mesher and executing the operation, the mesh is regenerated.
