Green 66 on Prestwick Oil!
Colourful Locos at Carlisle
11 June 25
We start at Etterby with the Prestwick Aviation Fuel train heading north, followed by a pair of 90s on a northbound intermodal.
At Carlisle's Citadel station GB Railfreight's 69009 Western Consort had layed-over overnight and headed south. It looked good in the Western loco Red livery but we know its not really a Western!
A last minute decision was to head with friends to Armathwaite to see Sir Nigel Gresley bring its Fellsman charter north. The train seemed quite sedate passing the heritage signalbox and it later transpired that a couple of lineside fires had occurred near Daisyfield Junction, Blackburn. At the water stop at Appleby the crew had been advised to not run too hard.
We also see Sir Nigel and train depart south, after a delay apparently caused by points failure at Petteril Bridge.
The times shown on clips are for guidance only and shouldn't be taken as definitive.
