Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga shrine is one of the most revered places among the Agikuyu community, with its popularity being attributed to the belief that it was the first home of the community’s ancestors. It here that community elders appease their ‘god’ by the name Mwene Nyaga in case of any calamity or while in need of blessings. And be warned. The Shrine is out of bounds for women.
