At our event at Eagle's Nest Point in Duxbury, MA we met up with our longtime fisher-friend CJ Husk and the folks at Deluxbury Oysters to feast on delicious oysters, enjoy the stunning view over the bay and learn more about the ecological benefits of oyster farming.
Mark Bouthillier and Anna Priester are passionate about sustainable fishery and believe that oysters are one of the most environmentally beneficial "crops" we can grow. After all, an adult oyster can filter 50 gallons of water in a day by capturing various particles as they feed through their gills. Farming oysters can remove pathogens, chemical contaminants and other impurities from the seawater while producing a nutritious and sustainable food source.
And it doesn’t hurt that they’re delicious. The flavor of an oyster changes depending on where and how it's grown. And Mark and Anna take great care in growing delicious oysters — even massaging the oysters to break off new growth and deepen their cups as they grow. 🦪✨
