The N228 is a provincial road in the central Netherlands, in the provinces of Utrecht and South Holland. The road is located in the Green Heart region. Major towns along the route include Montfoort (known for its old town center and castle), Oudewater (known for the witches' weigh house), and Haastrecht (known for its old town center and monastery). Lesser-known towns along the route include Stenenkamer, Achthoven, Knollemanshoek, Heeswijk, Willeskop, Rozendaal, Boven-Haastrecht, Beneden-Haastrecht, and Stolwijkersluis.

The N228 begins west of Utrecht, the fourth-largest city in the Netherlands. It ends in Gouda, the namesake of Gouda cheese and stroopwafels. The A12 motorway also runs between the two cities. The N228 lies south of the A12 and largely follows the course of the Oude IJssel River. Many people find the N228 an alternative route during busy motorway periods.

De N228 is een provinciale weg in het midden van Nederland, in de provincies Utrecht en Zuid-Holland. De weg ligt in het Groene Hart. Belangrijkste plaatsen langs de route zijn Montfoort (bekend van de oude binnenstad en het kasteel), Oudewater (bekend van de heksenwaag) en Haastrecht (bekend van de oude binnenstad en het klooster). Bij drukte op de snelweg weten veel mensen de N228 wel te vinden als alternatieve route.
