After importing your scan, this walkthrough shows how to align it to a practical part coordinate system using Xtract3D 2 inside SOLIDWORKS.
We place a best-fit plane on the PCB’s top surface, slice and offset for a clean outline, then sketch two hole circles and snap them to the mesh with Xtract3D 2's Fit tool. We define our coordinate system from this reference geometry, then use Apply Coordinate System on the mesh so the scan reorients to the new coordinate system. We then clean up helper features, and verify the SOLIDWORKS planes now pass through the mounting holes and PCB center.
