The Hanuman temple is located on top of Anjanadri Hill, also known as Anjaneya Hill, sits in the Anegundi area, approximately 5 kilometers northeast of Hampi’s main ruins, across the shimmering Tungabhadra River. Named after Anjana, Hanuman’s mother, this hill is a spiritual landmark in Hampi’s rugged, boulder-strewn landscape. To reach the Hanuman Temple at its summit, visitors must climb around 575 steps—a challenging ascent that weaves through rocky paths and offers glimpses of Hampi’s timeless beauty.
The temple houses a rock-carved Hanuman idol, revered by devotees who pray for courage and devotion. As Hanuman’s birthplace, it’s a major pilgrimage site, with nearby shrines to Rama and Sita reinforcing its Ramayana connection.
