Exploring Aviemore & Rothiemurchus in Scotland. Aviemore is conveniently located, just off the A9, around 30 miles south east of lnverness and is the gateway to the Cairngorms National Park. Aviemore started life as a small inn on the old Wade military road and grew as a village with the arrival of the railway in the 19 century.

Today it is a thriving holiday resort attracting skiers, anglers, cyclists, hill-walkers and families making it their holiday base. It’s extremely handy for the Cairngorms skiing area and mountain railway, which are just 9 miles to the east of Aviemore. One of the most popular walking spots is Loch an Eilean, on the Rothiemurchus Estate, 3.5 miles to the south.
