MARCH 5th 2018 - The Caribbean Eastern winds turned. Its coming in from the west. This is unusual, which makes it not possible to land on the well known Runway 10 low over The beach.
Landing on the opposite runway is challenging but very satisfying.
We planned and flew it via the south side, left hand visual pattern. The terrain is known to us and used it to execute it in a safe manner. Keeping the north side open as the cleaner escape / overshoot side in case of a missed approach.
Targets were set during the left hand downwind leg, and with ample visual guidance, we came in as a crew. The First Officer kept good watch inside and outside as we went through the valley, low over the yachts, managing the tall masts.
