Hi everyone! Thanks so much for watching. Please watch the entire series BEFORE starting your diaper cake since I had to make adjustments making mine. Please be kind and remember that this is a craft with me type of video and I leave all of the bloopers and mishaps in my videos so that you can see not only where I mess up but how I fix them just in case you do as well or better yet so that I can make the mistakes that you can avoid.
Here is the list of all of the products and tools I used in making this diaper cake. Remember that yours can be changed to fit the products that you’ve found. I will tell you where I purchased my products as best I can if I can remember.
Rubber bands
Double side tape (Scotch makes an excellent brand but I used some that I normally paper craft with)
Regular Scotch tape
Scissors
Needle nose pliers
Snippers for cutting wire
Something to poke holes with (I used an old awl from our garage)
Utility knife (to cut your tubes down)
Fishing line
16 gauge wire (I used gold wire purchased at Hobby Lobby)
Wrapping paper (I purchased mine from Dollar Tree)
4- skinny wrapping paper tubes cut down to 24” (I bought mine at Dollar Tree. You will need some of that wrapping paper to cover your box and posts)
SAVE YOUR CUT OFFS FROM THE WRAPPING PAPER TUBES
1- box with a lid (I used a boot box that I already had)
1-Foam core board (You’ll need to cut this down to the size of the inside of your box lid and cover with your wrapping paper) (I bought mine from Dollar Tree)
10- long pipe cleaners (bought at Dollar Tree)
7- Receiving blankets (mine was bought in a package of 7 from TJMaxx)
1 for the bed ruffle
1 to hold diapers on the canopy
1 to hold the diapers behind the headboard
4 for each of the four posts
3- burp cloths (I think these were bought from Target but I’m not positive)
1 to lay on top of canopy
2 others for each side of the bed acting as “bumpers”
2 -sets of baby mittens (these came from Tuesday Morning
1- thin baby blanket used for a pillow roll (mine was purchased from Tuesday Morning) you can also use an additional receiving blanket if you chose.
1 pair of baby socks with rattlers (Mine had little bear rattles on them and I’m not sure where I purchased those) This is just a decorative element and you could always use something different.
1- thick baby blanket (used to cover your “mattress) (mine was purchased from Tuesday Morning)
1- wood crown wall hanging for headboard (mine was purchased from Hobby Lobby, I give you other optional ideas in the video)
1- baby doll to lay on the bed (I purchased mine from Tuesday Morning)
1- stuffed animal teething ring, mine was a little fox (this is completely optional so use what you find)
1- tiarra (mine came from the dollar store. They can be found in about any toy section)
Ribbons of your choice to match the blankets that you have purchased
128 DIAPERS (as I said in the video, I wish that I had had more diapers to use but I give you options for that in the video as well)
Diaper breakdown
68 for the “mattress”
9 behind the “headboard”
51 for the canopy top (this is where I wish that I had had more diapers but you can buy additional things like wash cloths, onsies etc. to roll and add to the top to make up for lack of diapers)
I hope that you’ve enjoyed this tutorial. I know that I had loads of fun making it and it turned out to be a big hit at the baby shower.
