Korngold's Die Tote Stadt languished for decades in obscurity. But with this superb, multi-award-winning 2019 production by Simon Stone at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, it can be said to have reclaimed its place at the heart of the 21st-century operatic repertoire.
