Distance (out & back): 16 km • Elevation gain (total): 1592 m • Max elevation: 1784 m
Most of the hike is a bit of a grind, with the first 7 out of 8 km being in the forest with no real views. Once above the tree line, however, the hike all of a sudden gets infinitely more interesting. Being the tallest peak in the Vancouver North Shore, Brunswick Mountain is such a classic hike with relentless elevation gain and some class 2/3 scrambling. Incredible 360 views at the summit including the Howe Sound, the Lions, Sky Pilot, and even Black Tusk in the distance.
Note about parking: after 2 failed attempts in previous years at finding a parking space, we were finally able to do this hike by getting to the trailhead before 7 AM. To prevent disappointment you’ll have to beat the crowd, either by being there very early, or much later after most people have already left.
