A throwback story of two 13-year-old boys who set off from the gorge of the Waimakariri river in a wooden canoe towing behind them a raft made from car tubes carrying their supplies. The aim of the mission was to make the full journey from the gorge to the State Highway 1 bridge 48 km below.
