എന്നും വൈകുന്നേരം കൈയ്യിലെ പലഹാരപ്പൊതി ഉയർത്തി കാണിച്ചാണ് തന്റെ മകൾ ഉണരും മുമ്പ് പണിക്കു പോകുന്ന അയാൾ അവളെ വരവ് അറിയിക്കുന്നത്. ഇന്നുണ്ടായ വേദന മറച്ചു പിടിക്കുമ്പോഴും. മറഞ്ഞുനിന്നു അത് എന്താണെന്ന് നോക്കുന്ന തന്റെ കുഞ്ഞിന് പതിവുപോലെ പൊതി നൽകിയപ്പോൾ അവൾക്ക് ഉണ്ടായ സന്തോഷത്തിലാണ് അയാൾ ആ വേദന മറന്നു പോയത് .
എന്നും വൈകുന്നേരം അച്ഛനെ കാത്തു ഉമ്മറത്ത് ഇരിക്കുകയും അച്ഛൻ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന പലഹാര പൊതിയിലും അച്ഛന്റെ വാത്സല്യത്തിലും മാത്രം സന്തോഷം കണ്ടെത്തുന്നതാണ് അവളുടെ ജീവിതം.
