I thought I’d take you on a little walk to show you what the farm looks like in mid-November. The plants are giving their last hurrah, the trees are dropping their leaves, the last little bits of color are starting to fade, and the garden is going to sleep. Rather than clean everything up now, we instead wait until early spring, leaving the remaining seeds and fruit for songbirds and other creatures to eat throughout the winter months. While it might look a little messy, the garden sustains so much life. I encourage you to rethink cleaning up your garden this fall and instead let it stay wild a little longer and feed the creatures that share the space with you.
Plants featured in this video include: Crabapple ‘Evereste’, branching sunflowers, Northern Sea Oats, hollyhocks, Joe Pye Weed, ‘Limelight’ Hydrangea, roses, Scabiosa ‘Snow Maiden’, Scabiosa ‘Ochroleuca’, Cup and Saucer Vine, Astrantia, Astilbe, Hypericum, Rudbeckia ‘Triloba’
