Perth and Kinross Sound Archive is a collection of interviews with people who lived in rural Perth & Kinross during the early and mid-twentieth century. The stories they told cover a wealth of subjects describing rural life and work, including local traditions, farming, ring net fishing, rural crafts and industry. They also preserve our rich local dialect and the memories of some wonderful characters who shaped the landscape around us.
In 2017 we made a short film of the recordings, illustrated with photographs from our collections. Here is the result - we hope you enjoy it as much as we do! The film runs for 36 minutes, but if you don't have time to watch it all in one sitting, we will also be posting short extracts on our YouTube channel over the course of the week.
