Karviná is a statutary town on the river Olše in Moravian-Silesian Region. It has approximately 54,000 inhabitants with significant Slovak and Polish minorities. The original and correct name of the town is Fryštát. The name Karvina is misleading for today's city. Karviná has historically developed completely differently against Fryštát. Therefore, the information below may be inaccurate

► University Square & Park
The Faculty of Business Administration in Karvina was established in 1990. It has a three-level system of study and offers both bachelor's (Bc.) And follow-up Master's (Ph.D.) and doctoral (Ph.D.) studies. There is both full-time and combined form of study with the use of e-learning support.
► Karvina Sea

► Boating Lake
The boating lake is located in a former meander of the Olše River, located in the southern part of the Boženy Němcová Park. It is a popular recreational destination for people and visitors in Karviná. Boats are available for public hire. As in many other places on the River Olše, anglers can fish here year-round.
► Masaryk Square
The castle of Fryštát stands on the site of the original wooden castle, which was built by the Těšín prince of the Piast family as its second residence right after Těšín Castle. The exact date of the castle's status is unknown, but it is believed to have been here at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, when Fryštát was promoted to the city (1305). The castle belonged to the genus Larisch-Mönnichs.
► Chateau & Park
Former English castle park with an area of 36 hectares. The main attraction is the tomb of the Earl of Larisch-Mönnich, which played a significant role in the history of the town of Karviná.
► Darkov Bridge (Most of Sokolovskych Hrdinu)
The reinforced concrete bridge crosses the Olše River and is extraordinary by its technical solution of the arch using the Vierendeel beam. Its construction began in 1922, according to the design by the Viennese architect Rabe, and was completed three years later. During the floods in 1997, the bridge was almost overpopulated, and therefore was later picked up two meters in 2003-2004 and refurbished. It now serves only cyclists and pedestrians.
► St. Marks Church
The classicist filial church of St. Marka dates back to 1774. Originally, there was a wooden Protestant church dating back to 1569. After the Thirty Years War, the church was taken by the Protestant Catholics, in 1773 demolished and replaced by a brick church. After a fire in 1823 it was reconstructed and modified to its present form.
