DRS Stowmarket Depot - 2004 to 2023 | 'Loud and Proud' - A dedication to Driver Paul Scrivens

For the past 8 years, a sizeable chunk of our channel has been the welcome sight of Direct Rail Services workings.

Due to the company having new aims and objectives regarding only operating nuclear and Tesco trains, the need for work down the southern end of the country has dramatically thinned, thus resulting in all bar a minority (now working from home) relocating to other operating companies.

RHTTs has also been one of our favourite subjects throughout the time of DRS at Stowmarket, and from this year, for the first time since 2005, the annual Rail Head Treatment Trains will be operated by GBRf with, as it currently stands, class 66s and class 69s.

In this video, we look back at the best and most loudest moments that we've captured of this fine depot over the last 8 years.

Also, this video is wholly dedicated to one of the team, who in 2021, very sadly passed away. 'Driver Paul Scrivens', who's name now rests on both sides of 66424, was a really lovely chap, who always had plenty of humorus railway tales to tell that stretched back over a very lengthy and enjoyable career. Having worked with him in the past, he really was a lovely soul.

Rest in peace, Paul - You were amazing.
