West Somerset Railway 1989 – 1992 Cine Film with Sound
Originally opened in 1862, the West Somerset Railway runs between Bishops Lydeard and Minehead.
This Super 8mm cine film was shot between 1989 and 1992, and stops at most of the stations. Engines include: 53808, 92220 Evening Star, 53807 The Quantock Belle, 4561, 3440 City of Truro, SDJR 88 and 3205.
Getting the sound off the cine film was a ‘pickle’ as it has to go through two systems. It was worth it though and there’s no narration, no music, just the original sounds from the day. Super 8mm movie sound wasn’t always the best, but it’s the best I do with it.
