The Gordie Howe International Bridge project is a once-in-a-generation undertaking. Not only will the project deliver much-needed transportation improvements for international travellers, it will also provide jobs and opportunities for growth to the Windsor-Detroit region and includes features that make this project truly distinctive.

The project is being delivered through a public-private partnership (P3). A public-private partnership is a long-term performance- based approach to procuring public infrastructure where the private sector assumes a major share of the risks in terms of financing and construction and ensuring effective performance of the infrastructure, from design and planning, to long-term maintenance.

Un partenariat public-privé est une approche d'approvisionnement d'infrastructure publique à long terme et basée sur la performance pour laquelle le secteur privé assume la majeure partie des risques en ce qui concerne le financement et la construction, et assure le rendement efficace de l’infrastructure, de la conception et de la planification, jusqu’à l’entretien à long terme.
