FTV news celebrates 1 million subscribers on YouTube

Now, some of you are watching this show on the TV, but many of you are watching it on a laptop or even on your phone. That’s because Formosa TV is no longer just a major TV station. The company’s sights are set on the internet. On Tuesday, FTV celebrated a milestone in its digital growth strategy: surpassing 1 million subscribers on two of its YouTube offerings.
The latest newsflash appears simultaneously on TV and online. But that’s not all.
Political analysis, travel, nature, news, entertainment and drama: FTV has it all. A heavyweight of Taiwan’s TV industry, FTV has set its sights on internet media. In the coming years, it will expand from mainly producing TV to becoming a multiplatform media empire.

Our drama and news channels on YouTube both have more than a million subscribers. That’s a small first step for us, but a great leap for FTV’s new media strategy.
Drama and news have led FTV’s online presence so far. The online news channels include FTV News Network, with over 600,000 subscribers, and FTV Thumbs Up for political analysis, with over 400,000 subscribers. On the entertainment side, FTV Dramas has 900,000 subscribers, and FTV Entertainments 240,000.

Judging by the speed at which we’re growing, we expect to have a million subscribers just on our Dramas channel by June. That’s bringing us toward the goal we’ve set, to become a comprehensive multimedia network.
The traditional TV station has been getting a makeover. As well as expanding into new online platforms, the content has gotten an upgrade too. FTV wants it to be on the cutting edge, delivering news as it happens.

We’re always one step ahead. Our writers and camera crew up and down the country are always the first to respond. As well as producing traditional TV reportage, we release online updates, which we call FTV Fast News. Fast News is already very highly regarded and it’s our biggest advantage.

Our overall strategy is to release content on our own platform but also across the major global platforms such as YouTube and Facebook.
That strategy includes digital apps, streaming content and social media communities, where FTV’s media can be shared by viewers.
